The communication effort of the Consorzio Tutela Vini in the foreign market goes on. The ProWein, the important International Trade Fair Wine, has just ended. Germany is for the Consorzio, a strategic export area for the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and for the other regional DOC wines.
The Consortium was present at ProWein (from 24 to 26 March, 2013) with 23 cellars and several events. The objective was to strengthen the network of business relationships with the most important German and North European workers in the sector. Germany and North Europe are areas where the Abruzzo wines are well-known and appreciated.
Beyond the exhibition and the tastings, an important forum took place, organized in collaboration with the German magazine "Vinum", that is the leading magazine in Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
During the forum, journalists and opinion leaders discussed about the scenario and the growth prospects for the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo on the German market. Many journalists were present at the event such as Stephan Reinhardt and Christian Eder, respectively the German managing editor and the responsible for Vinum Italy, the wine expert Maria Veronika Crecelius and Martin Schröck, responsible for Food & Wine of the Institute for Foreign Trade in Germany. The moderator was Fabian Lange, wine journalist for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the prestigious National German newspaper.
The choice of focusing on the German market is strategic. The updated analysis reveal that the export to Germany has increased, reaching the record level of € 24,6 million in 2012. However, the ProWein does not mean only the German market. This important Fair attracts usually many specialized visitors from all over the world and this edition has registered about 40,000 international visitors including restaurateurs, wholesalers and hotel managers.
